Artist, Kathryn LeMieux, is a native of the State of Washington and currently lives in Mendocino County, California. She studied painting and printmaking at Western Washington University. At a cartoon workshop held there, she met cartoonists from both the mainstream and the underground press and found inspiration and encouragement to pursue the craft. Kathryn's work has appeared in magazines, newspapers, commercial advertising and books. Her editorial cartoons won several California Newspaper Publisher Awards, and King Features Syndicate published her comic strips in newspapers both nationally and around the world.
As a painter, humor often shows up in her images, be it rowdy gin swilling mermaids or cows grazing on the Golden Gate Bridge. She also paints the local scenes of the Northern California coast.
A collector of the unusual, her studio is decorated with assorted objects of natural and historic interest including a unique collection of glass and a stuffed badger. A passion for dark 19th century imagery, she combines photos and objects from her personal archives to create uniquely surreal digital prints.
